Al Zorah Development was incorporated in October 2007 as a partnership between Solidere International, the Lebanese house that rebuilt central Beirut, and the Government of Ajman. That pairing is the character of the place: a masterplan drawn with the patience of a city-centre reconstruction rather than the tempo of a tower launch.
The site is twelve kilometres of coast, natural mangrove and a tidal lagoon, and the plan protects most of it. The eighteen-hole Nicklaus Design course, the emirate's first, opened in 2015, and the Oberoi sits on the beach beside it. The case is land that cannot be replicated in the northern emirates, twenty-five minutes from Dubai International, released slowly by a developer with no reason to rush it.
